Privacy Notice

By submitting this report you consent to the University of Buckingham processing all the personal data you enter into this report in accordance with this privacy notice, the University’s Data Protection Policy and the procedures set out in our Non-academic Misconduct Policy

We may use the information you provide in this report for the purpose of:

  1. Helping us to identify the best member of staff for you to speak to in relation to your report;
  2. Providing our member of staff with your contact details (where appropriate) and background information that will enable them to understand the nature of your concern or the incident you are reporting; and
  3. Review your report and taking further action if required. For example, an investigation that could lead to us carrying out disciplinary action in line with the procedures set out in our Non-academic Misconduct Policy 

All information you provide will be treated in the strictest confidence and the University will disclose your identity and your other personal data contained in your report within our University on a need to know basis only. We will not disclose your personal data to any third parties without your consent, unless there are legitimate reasons requiring us to do so, for example, where the information you have provided highlights a potential risk to yourself or another individual’s health and safety.

Please note that the University of Buckingham will not be able to take steps such as investigating your concern or complaint, initiating an internal disciplinary action or passing information to third parties, if you make an anonymous report. However, we will still review and keep an anonymised record of your report to identify similar reports and whether there are patterns of behaviour or trends which should be addressed. 

So we are able to assist and support you following the submission of your report, we encourage you to provide us with your personal information.

We will only retain your personal information for six months where no action is taken and for twelve months where action is taken. After these periods, we will take a decision whether or not to retain the personal data in relation to the report you have made for a further 24 months or in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We may also retain some information to monitor our work, but you will not be identifiable from this information .

You have the right to request we stop processing your personal data and that we safely and securely delete the information you gave us at any time.
